The Architecture Library is named for John Rex Cunningham, a celebrated educator, designer, and artist whose influence helped shape architectural education at Oklahoma State University for more than four decades. A graduate of Oklahoma A&M College, Cunningham joined the faculty in 1927 and became a key figure in the School of Architecture's nationally recognized "Golden Years." Known for his remarkable mastery of watercolor and his "show not tell" teaching approach, he inspired generations of students through his graphic skill, design expertise, and mentorship. His architectural legacy also includes the design of OSU's Bennett Chapel, one of the university's most cherished landmarks. The Architecture Library was dedicated in his honor in 1978 as a tribute to his creativity, scholarship, and devotion to learning.

 

The collection supports students and faculty in architecture, architectural engineering, and design by providing access to specialized materials, studio resources, and research assistance. Its holdings include books, journals, and visual materials that reflect the disciplines' history, theory, and practice.
